Tim S. Kang, a NYC and LA based cinematographer, has worked as a director of photography on narrative, commercial, music video, and documentary projects in the motion picture industry. He now serves as Principal Engineer of Color and Imaging for Quasar Science, a Videndum Production Solutions company. In this capacity, he co-founded and chairs the Lighting Committee for the American Society of Cinematographers Motion Imaging Technology Council (ASC MITC). Prior to receiving his cinematography MFA at AFI Conservatory, Tim studied biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He spent 8 years in biomedical research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC that garnered co-author credits on multiple published papers, and developed a stills photography business in the NYC metropolitan market. All of these experiences inform his current initiative to elevate industry color science standards in motion picture lighting.
