Dr. Mitch J Bogdanowicz retired from Eastman Kodak as a Sr. Research fellow in July of 2006 after 32 years of service.
Dr. Bogdanowicz earned a B.S. Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1969 and a PhD. Degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1972.
After a short term with the Agrochemical division of E.I. DuPont, working on the synthesis of herbicide, pesticide and plat growth regulants, Dr. Bogdanowicz joined the Bioscience division at Kodak in August 1974.
After one year, Dr. Bogdanowicz joined the synthetic chemistry laboratory of the Color Photography division.
In 1978, Dr. Bogdanowicz developed a sub-structure searching program on the mainframe for pattern matching 3D molecules, and pursued investigation and programming in the field of molecular orbital calculations and theory.
In 1979, Dr. Bogdanowicz joined the Color Science Engineering Laboratory (CSEL) and started his career in Color Science modeling, color psychophysical research and applied research for the Consumer and Professional divisions. In 1983, Dr. Bogdanowicz started collaboration with the Motion Picture division. After a brief period of consulting with that group he joined them permanently.
His work centered on systems modeling, photographic simulation, computer algorithms, color perception, color reproduction and basic photographic system problem solving. His expertise in the design and analysis of filters and special lighting techniques led to two Technical Achievement Awards from the Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Bogdanowicz has created systems for 3DLut genesis and applications for post-production. Dr. Bogdanowicz has developed algorithms for numerous digital camera applications. Dr. Bogdanowicz designed the Kodak Look Management System (KLMS) for pre visualization in a motion picture system and the heart of the Kodak Display Manager (KDM) as well as the Kodak Preview System. Dr. Bogdanowicz has contributed to most of the current film programs and other hybrid programs.
Dr. Bogdanowicz has consulted with many cinematographers and laboratories worldwide.
Dr. Bogdanowicz has over 25 US patents and numerous other foreign patents in Color Science and Photographic processes with the vast majority related to the Motion Picture Industry.
Since retirement, Dr. Bogdanowicz has consulted to the motion picture industry (MJB Consulting).

Fellow of the SMPTE.
2000 Technicolor Kalmus Gold Medal Award.
Associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
