Félix Poulin is a leading figure in the broadcast industry's transition to IT infrastructure. He's currently focused on building international collaborations around key innovation initiatives at CBC/Radio-Canada, a national public media company.
Before his return to CBC in 2017 as director of Media-over-IP architecture and test lab with the all-IP new Maison Radio-Canada in Montreal, Poulin was the lead expert on Live IP at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), where he focused on the SMPTE ST 2110 standard and the foundations to the shift to IP.
Poulin earned his diploma in electrical engineering from Polytechnique Montréal and completed his final thesis at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His expertise is widely recognized through his significant involvement in various industry organizations. He's the co-chair of the Technical Steering Committee of the Media eXchange Layer (MXL) open-source project and the co-chair of the EBU Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) workgroup. He also serves as the user-chair of the Networked Media Open Specifications (NMOS) Steering Board, sits on the Board of Directors of the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), and is a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
