Michael F. Korpi is Professor of Film and Digital Media at Baylor University, a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), a recipient of the SMPTE Excellence in Education Medal, a Research Fellow at TANDO.org, and a Collins Outstanding Professor (elected annually by the Baylor Senior Class). His research is concerned with the production, technology, aesthetics, and impact of media, with an emphasis on dealing with new communication technologies, beginning with high definition television (HDTV) in the 1980s, transitioning to nonlinear editing systems and broadband video networks in the 1990s, and more recently, digital cinema, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). He is also a documentary filmmaker. Dr. Korpi attended Liberty University and the University of Iowa. He has been at Baylor University since 1982.
