Welcome and Introductions to RIS

(VAD )Virtualizing the Art Department 11:10 AM - 12:05 PM

What makes the work of the Virtual Art Department (VAD) in on-set virtual production different from what we have traditionally done in production design? Join us for an educational session lead by industry leaders, including the Visual Effects Society, as they introduce the preproduction process and tools used to create virtual sets and environments. Attendees will leave this session understanding the basics of VAD workflows and technology. The shared best practices from real world examples are designed to enable attendees to work more efficiently with the VAD and will serve as preparation for the next level of learning at the Media Technology Summit in October.

Navigating Virtual Production Sets 12:10 PM - 1:05 PM

Even as more LED volume stages are becoming more prevalent, mystery still shrouds the actual components needed to create one of these environments.   We have assembled a group of Technical experts including the Disguise Team to give attendees an introduction to the Virtual Stage ecosystem including the “technical glue and technicians” that power and manage the systems and content to capture In Camera Visual Effects.   This session will provide participants with the foundational requirements they will need to discuss the deeper technical processes being explored at the Media Technology Summit in October.

Re-imagining the Visual Imagery Process on a Virtual Set1:10 PM - 2:05 PM

On Set Virtual Production technology is expanding the way that teams on set are able to capture images for the creative storytelling process.     These new tools also require teams to collaborate earlier to design those creative ideas and has inspired a return to discipline as a result     The ASC will introduce attendees to traditional and new tools being leveraged on set, including cameras, lenses, lighting, LED technology and camera tracking.     After this conversation, attendees will have the introductory knowledge they will need to access the technical topics and demonstrations at the Media Technology Summit in October.
