The Progress Report is traditionally one of the most highly-read issues of the Journal, providing invaluable updates of technological developments within the Media and Entertainment industry over the past year. The 2021 Progress Report includes reports on what’s happened in the topic areas of Immersive Media, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Remote Technologies, UHD, HDR, and Diversity and Inclusion. It also features reports from our industry partners, such as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMAPAS), the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the World Broadcasting Union (WBU), the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA-JTNM-VSF), the Streaming Video Alliance (SVA), the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), the 5G Media Action Group (5MAG), the Immersive Digital Experiences Alliance (IDEA), the Ultra HD Forum (UHDF), the Entertainment Technology Center at USC (ETC),  and the International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R). The event will also include participation from SMPTE Technology and Task Force Committees.

Attendees will be given brief summaries of these reports by the authors, as well as the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions. This event highlights the Journal, what it does, and how it impacts our industry.
